Lobsters and Football – How a Popular Seafood Meal Will Give You an Edge in Fantasy Football

You’re probably wondering how the heck a lobster can help you win more often in fantasy football.  Read on and you’ll find out…

I’m lucky to live in a wonderful part of the country, New England.  Home of the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox, the Presidential hangout Martha’s Vineyard and amazing local lobster from Maine.  (Interesting fact, nearly 90% of the nation’s lobster supply is caught off the coast of Maine…astonishing)  Lobster has been fished from these cold seas for generations and through the years the lobsterman and women of Maine have become better and better at finding the little crustaceans.  Sure, new technology helps but ultimately it’s up to the “locals” to find these delicacies.

Fish Like a Local

I’ve never fished for lobster but if I wanted to what would be the best way to learn?  Find someone from the gold coast of Florida to teach me?  Head to Manhattan where they certainly love their lobster?  I don’t think so.  I would go right to the hub…to the coast of Maine and find myself a local fisherman who can show me the ropes.  Not only could this fisherman teach me the basics but he would also teach me all the tricks of fishing around the inlets of Maine.

Unfortunately, when it comes to fantasy football many of us rely on the “out of towners” for advice.  Don’t get me wrong, the big national media outlets have vast resources at their fingertips and can conjure up a great looking video production in minutes but do you think they can really give you the local flavor you would get from someone who was around the team day in and day out?  Like relying on local Maine fisherman who know the coastal waters, we can all be smarter fantasy football players by getting insight about teams and players we’re interested in by listening to the locals.

Trouble Snapping the Ball?

Let me share with you an excerpt of a recent post on Blogging The Boys (the most popular local Dallas Cowboys blog):

“Gurode has a knee injury and had trouble with a full practice on Thursday, he says he’ll go, but players almost always say that. The contingency plan is to move Kyle Kosier over to center, a position he’s never played in a game.  Montrae Holland would then slide in at left guard. If Kosier has to play center, then the center/QB exchange is going to be a huge concern all game. Not only that, but Kosier will have to deal with all new blocking assignments.”

If you’re planning to play Tony Romo (#4 ranked Consensus QB for Week 6), Felix Jones (#19 ranked Consensus RB) or Miles Austin (#2 ranked Consensus WR) against a formidable front group of the Minnesota Vikings wouldn’t you like to know about the potential issue facing the Cowboys line?

This is amazing insight you just won’t get from a national source.  National reporters and fantasy folks are spread too thin to get this level of detail.  Yet, this tiny little piece of information could have a significant impact on the production of the Dallas skilled players.

Believe me when I tell you there are hundreds of examples of this terrific insight scattered across all kinds of local blogs right now.  Most fantasy players would love to have this information on hand when they make a crucial decision but often times it can be hard to find.
